Part of being an inquirer at ACST means that we are curious about EVERYTHING we learn – whether it’s World Languages, P.E., Art or Social Studies.
In our French class, we have a Wonder Wall where we can post all sorts of questions and wonderings about language and culture and what we are learning in class. Here are some questions we had this week:
– Why do French people eat frogs’ legs?
– How come there are so many words that are the same in French and English?
– How do you say ‘Smartboard’ in French?
The AERO World Language Standards include a whole section on comparison with one’s own language and culture so we had some great discussions about linguistics and how cognates can enhance written and spoken language.
